Privacy Policy — BookCrater

This is a working draft prepared for BookCrater's launch, written to accurately describe the tracking and data flows this site is architected for. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not final legal language — see BookCrater's internal 22-LEGAL-REVIEW-FLAGS.md for what still needs professional review.

1. What we collect

When you browse this site, we collect standard analytics data — pages viewed, general location at the country/region level, device type, and how you interact with the page (for example, which FAQ questions you open) — through Google Analytics 4 and Meta's advertising tools. When you create an account or make a purchase, we collect your email address, and payment details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor — we do not store your card number ourselves.

2. Why we collect it

To operate your account — your email identifies your purchase and gives you access to the product.
To process payment — handled by our payment processor, not stored on BookCrater's own servers.
To understand and improve the site — aggregate analytics on which pages and sections are working, not individual profiling.
To measure advertising performance — Meta Pixel and Conversions API events (like viewing this page or completing a purchase) help us understand which ads are effective. These tools are configured with placeholder IDs until the site is live and reviewed.

3. Cookies

This site uses a small number of cookies and similar local-storage technologies for analytics (GA4), advertising measurement (Meta Pixel), and checkout functionality (your payment processor). We do not use tracking for purposes unrelated to operating and measuring this site. Because BookCrater currently sells only in the US, this site does not run an EU-style cookie-consent banner; if BookCrater expands to regions requiring one (for example, the UK), a consent flow will be added before that launch.

4. Who we share data with

We share the minimum data required to operate with: our payment processor (to process your purchase), our email service (to send receipts and account information), and analytics/advertising platforms (Google, Meta) for aggregate measurement. We do not sell your personal data.

5. How long we keep data

Account and purchase records are kept for as long as your account is active and as needed for tax and accounting purposes. Analytics data is retained according to each platform's standard retention settings.

6. Your choices

You can ask us to delete your account data or ask what data we hold by emailing support@bookcrater.com. You can control cookie and ad-tracking behavior through your browser and device settings.
